Eligibility & Selection

Eligibility

  • Member of first generation in family to attend an accredited two or four year college or university
  • Residing in Fort Bend County and attending either a Fort Bend ISD, Stafford MSD or Lamar CSD school as a graduating senior
  • US citizens or US Permanent Resident *Proof of Permanent Resident card required if non US Citizen
  • Grade point average of 2.5 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale
  • Family adjusted gross income not to exceed $50,000 or if the parent no longer contributes to the general welfare of the child, the student must provide documentation of alternate sources of income OR if married, student must provide financial documents for spouse and applicant
  • First time enrolling as a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) in undergraduate study at an accredited two or four year public college or university in Texas

Selection Of Recipient

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of financial need, unusual personal or family circumstances, academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, school and community references, and honors. Besides the submitted written information, finalist may be requested to come in for an interview with the board or its designee.
